Gooseberry (Ribes gross.) ‘Jeanne’

Posted on April 12, 2012 by Lucile Whitman

The truth is I hate most gooseberries: they have horrible thorns and get mildew and leafspot so even the delicious ones are a pain. Well, we may have turned a corner. Jeanne does have tiny thorns but the fruit is large, red, thin skinned, and delicious and the bush is vigorous and pest free. YES!

Size: Bareroot Price: $9.50

About Whitman Farms

Whitman Farms began in 1980 as an informal nut tree and small fruit adjunct to a large bareroot nursery next door in Salem Oregon. It was a one-woman show and mostly for fun. However, Lucile Whitman (pictured), the owner, got sidetracked; she became enamored of unusual ornamental trees and started planting any weird and wonderful woody plants she ran across, using root control bags, a new plant-friendly technology.
