Sunglow (Acer circinatum 'Sunglow')

The one specimen I have seen of this plant was spectacular with its yellowish orange colors in the summer. Not a real dwarf like Little Gem, it still wasn’t as vigorous as the species. Zone 5

Tiny little leaves on a 4′ mound with good fall color about says it all. Zone 5

My new favorite circinatum. Here’s why: lots of color in spring and summer on its small leaves and it can grow in the sun (unlike my former favorites Sunglow and Sunny Sister)

Burgundy Jewel (Acer circinatum 'Bugundy Jewel')

The largish leaves on this Vine Maple are dark dark red when they come out in the spring fading to a coppery late summer, but the fall color is varied and excellent. I used to tell people if they didn’t live in the northwest not to bother with vine maples but I am hearing people all over the country having some success. They are plenty hardy to about zone 5 but do not want summer water so if you live in a soggy area of the country, plant on a well drained mound.
