Bizarre is the best word for this tree; it does weep; in fact it must be staked to avoid becoming a ground cover, but the leaves are truly strange: a few are normal, but many are linear. One important fact is that the tree is a female. Therefore if there are males in the neighborhood, you will get fruit. If you clean it, you can roast the nuts; they are delicious.

The original Salem Lady is a magnificent 60′ specimen in Salem which has a bountiful crop of nuts every year. Unfortunately, the fruit surrounding this nut, which is a delicacy in Asia, smells bad which is why all the other Ginkgos I sell are male and do not bear fruit. To get fruit from SL, you must have a male pollenizer. zone 4.
