I have a mature Marj Gossler right outside my house; it is about 20′ and never fails to bloom profusely with large fragrant mostly white (pink at the base) flowers. Crossed by Phil Savage in Mi (den x sarg.rob) , it is very hardy. So where are the millions of pics I must have taken over time? Magnolia wilsonii (Magnolia wilsonii)
This tree (to 25′) is best planted where one looks up into the lovely hanging flowers which are wonderfully fragrant. Zone 7.

This small tree/shrub has very fragrant white flowers in early summer followed by a bright display of red 2” fruit in the fall. zone 6

Magnolia macrophylla (Magnolia macrophylla)
Big Leaf Magnolia looks like a banana plant when it is young. It needs to be grown in a somewhat sheltered location because of the wind damage on the leaves. Reaching 30-50′, the tree needs a large space. The flowers are huge but often hidden by the leaves. zone 5

Very early flowering this is a reliably white flowering cross between stellata and kobus; fragrant. Zone 4.

Koban Dori (Magnolia acuminata 'Koban Dori')
This good yellow flower comes out here in late April/early May. I took this picture on May 8. This is a much smaller form than most acuminatas and reasonably tight.. The species is generally considered hardy into the northeastern US.
